Many items being sold on eBay come a great discount and bargain due to their used condition.  Many companies actively liquidate used items to pay for new equipment.   This offers an excellent opportunity for the eBayer looking for a deal, for several reasons.  For example, Business often invest in IT or repair specialists to maintain equipment such as laptops.  This means your item will be in solid condition when compared to items sold by casual buyers.  However, it should also be said that items pulled from working environments may have the following:

  • Signs of wear due to use such as
    • Scuffing
    • Scratching
    • Blemishes
  • Stickers or markings on parts of the equipment
  • Missing items or accessories

Serious eBay Sellers do their best to accurately describe the condition of an item in their listing, as well as what items come with it.  For example, a computer that was removed from a working environment is likely in good working order, but may not have items such as

  • Instruction Manuals
  • USB and Ethernet Cables
  • Carrying Case (if originally included)
  • Installation disks

It is always best to fully review the listing and ask questions to be sure of the purchase condition before bidding. Sellers who dont answer there email typically arent the ones you wish to purchase from anyway.  However, sellers who give active customer service are worth the premium price some will pay for above other sellers who are less professional.  Good luck, and good bidding!
