If you see a item that the buyer claims is autographed by a famous or not so famous hockey player, and the seller cannot provide a C.O.A from a reputable company, then you are better off not buying it. If the seller claims that they had the hockey player sign the item themselves but can not provide any proof other than their word, you are best not to buy it. Hockey cards signed by hockey players without a C.O.A cannot be verified as authentic and holds no true market value what-so-ever. In fact, the card itself is now considered defaced and holds no such value. Take for example a Ken Dryden Rookie card with autograph.(there is one available right now on eBay and is a fake, along with the 20 others the seller is trying to pass off as authentic) The Ken Dryden Rookie card is now defaced and considered worthless. If you want to know if a certain company with C.O.A's is a reputable one, contact us and we will let you know. We won't charge a fee like ebay does.
Anyone who is trying to sell autographed cards claiming that they gaurantee it's authentic without a valid COA(not one they made up themselves) one from a reputable company is not worth investing in. If a seller truly believes that they have an authentic signed card they can always have it verified through PSA/DNA or another legit company before trying to sell it. Those sellers who tell a potential buyer to have it verified themselves should be avoided at all cost. Too many sellers on ebay today are selling fake autographed cards to unsuspecting buyers and all should be leary about purchasing from them. Ask a lot of questions, and if the seller seems to get annoyed or defensive, do not buy from them
