Disney,, A Guide to making your vist a magical day!

So,, you have everything ready, your packed ready to walk out the resort room door.... But wait, should you use your room key to charge? Or maybe just use cash? Do they have ATMs at the parks?  Read further to the answer to these and other common questions when visiting this park.

Okay,, yes we do have sun all year round, but in the winter months it does get cold.  Here is a simple guide if you are going from November - March bring  jeans, light jackets and maybe a long sleeve shirt or two. At night it can get down to 40 to 30 degrees which by any standards is cold.  Dress in layers that way during the day, if you are in the sun you can add or take away depending on where you are. If you have young children, some of the indoor rides can get chilly even in the summer, a light blanket is great for quick cover ups.

Summer weather is rather easy. Dress for comfort and ease. Sandals, tank tops, shorts all good clothes for the summer. Summer temperatures can get up as high as 98 -100 degrees in the middle of July. Disney does offer cool off spots (water misters, fountains etc) but try to think lightweight. Also, if you are traveling with young children, some of the indoor rides/shows can get rather chilly from the A/C. A lightweight blanket is a quick cover up.  Florida weather does come with rain. Usually in the summer florida days the afternoon gets a good rain storm. If the wind picks up, the temperature drops it is probably going to rain. Find a resturant, show or just pop open your umbrella. Disney does sell umbrellas and ponchos so that you can still enjoy the park while not getting to wet. Though if it is hot enough, just enjoy the rain!

Here are a couple of common things to keep in mind:

  •  All bags are searched prior to entering any Disney theme park. Be smart, don't bring the obvious no, no's (illegal drugs, guns, knives etc).

  • This bag or item is going to be carried/pulled/pushed/worn all day for 8 to 12 hours.
  • Disney permits couples with young children to bring their own stroller. They do offer stroller rentals, but it is about $6.00 a day to rent one.
  • Disney does allow coolers, but remember unless you check it in a locker, you have to bring it with you all over the park. Coolers are also subject to being searched.

Paying for your purchases at Disney is a snap. Each park has two ATMs (Disney uses Chase bank) so getting cash is not a problem. They also take major credit cards. The most easy way to pay is with a room charge. If you stay at a Disney resort, they give you the option to turn your room key into a way to charge items that you purchase at WDW.  The cards are used the same way as a credit card, so make sure to sign the back and carry another form of ID with you. The room card can be used anywhere on Disney property.

Yes,, you can vist a WDW theme park with your young children and still have a good time.  Each park offers a baby changing station/center.  These rooms come complete with bathrooms, high chairs, changing tables and a room for nursing mothers.  Run of out formula? Juice? You can purchase it at the center along with pacifiers, bottles, diapers, pull ups and more.  When we traveled with our young ones, I just took a basic diaper bag with extra diapers, wipes, change of clothes, formula/bottles and a lightweight blanket. Extra items such as jackets, heavier blankets can be stored in the stroller. **Caution** As I have never had anything stolen from my stroller, I would still use caution on what you leave behind while on a ride.
