OK, you have asked for more and although I have been developing my system for 7 years and used on over 8,000 auctions, I am willing to share some of these tips and experiences with the eBay Seller Community in hopes you will all learn from my mistakes.
This article will be in two parts. The first is what happens after the sale is made and the second deals with shipping Confirmed addresses only.
First the basics on what happens when you sell an item on eBay
===============================================================
You all know that when an auction ends a few things happen behind the scenes. eBay of course will notify the buyer and seller of the successful conclusion of the auction or Buy It Now transaction. If you have set up your preferences properly an invoice will be generated by eBay and/or Pay Pal asking the customer how they would like to pay for their transaction. You can also go in manually and send the customer an invoice by simply going to My eBay, click on the "Sold" tab on the left nav bar and you will be taken to all your Sold items.
There you will see the most recent sales and you will also see if the item has not been paid. You will also see an option to Send Invoice to the buyer. This is especially useful if you want to make any adjustments to the sale or payment. If you offer a discount for multiple purchases and the buyer has bought more then on item before he has made any payment you will see more then one item appear under his eBay name.
You can now combine all these by selecting all of them and then adjust the shipping and handling fees. eBay will compute the total S&H automatically, but if you want to give the customer a shipping discount for the combined shipment you will see a column near the bottom of the form for Seller Adjustments. To deduct money from the order, just put in a minus sign and the dollar amount (-1.00).
Then you can also write comments on what you have done and send off the invoice. So now you have either automatically sent an invoice or manually sent one and you are ready to wait for payment.
If the payment is made via Pay Pal and the buyer has a Confirmed Shipping address you are good to ship. Use the Pay Pal system to ship your orders, it is the best and easiest system to use. You can read more about it in some of my other guides.
By the way...What happens if the buyer does not have a Confirmed Shipping address or is an international customer who more then likely will definately not have one? Well that is the topic in my next Guide...please continue there to find out all about this important topic.
