OK, they make movies about Hollywood, so here is an eBay guide about eBay guides. I hope you find it helpful.
EBay guides come in many shapes and sizes. Some are very short, with just a few tips or definitions. Some are lengthy and detailed, with circles and arrows. Some describe ways to sell, some to buy. Some went to market, some stayed home.
What all eBay guides have in common is that someone took a few minutes to tell you something, be it a recipe or some method of shipping, or just about anything. Many of my guides are designed to be pleasant distractions. Other guide writers subtly (or not-so-subtly) encourage the reader to buy goods being sold by the writer. The other thing most guides have in common is that they can be voted on and the votes they accumulate go towards the writer's ranking among guide writers. This is different from a feedback rating and should be considered only an indication of the writer's rank as compared with other writers, using a fairly complicated system of comparison. At the bottom of this guide will be a place to vote on its helpfulness. YOU are welcome to vote yes or no, though I would appreciate your refraining from a NO vote unless you find this really uninformative or irritating- or, as some have suggested, you are voting no to inflict some other message. In which case, please go ahead, as the unhelpful vote is really not going to have a lasting effect on much of anything.
You can find guides in several different ways. One way is to see them as they pop up when you search for items related to the guide. Look in the left hand margin on your search results and you will often see a list of guides that have some relation to the item you are looking at. Another way is to go to the guides and reviews home page and search there for a particular topic. You can also click on a user's ID and the page that click takes you to will include a link to his or her guides . You can also click "see all guides and reviews by this writer" and find a list.
Many eBay members may be missing out on the reviews section. As its name implies, a review is someone else's opinion on a particular item, be it a DVD or an electronic device. You may find the film you want to know about has been reviewed as a DVD, but not as a VHS tape, or vice versa. You may find the item you want to know about has not been reviewed per se, but is the subject of a helpful guide. Be sure to look thoroughly. Of course, anyone's opinion may be similar to yours or it may not. When a review has some factual component, it goes beyond a mere question of taste and becomes useful in other ways, maybe as a plot summary, maybe as a list of cast members. Like any other source of reviews, an eBay review may be a good way to organize and refine your own opinion.
Some guides are offered for entertainment purposes only. They may not be specific enough to tell you how to buy a suit, for example, but they may give you an overall feeling about suits or clothing. They may impart more general knowledge about life than a specific description of things for sale on eBay. Whether or not this is strictly helpful is up to you. My only hope is that you enjoy my guides, whether or not you vote on them.
Thanks for taking the time to look. I have written nearly 50 guides and
reviews and I hope that each of them will please you in some way.
I also have a few Blog postings which you can find on the eBay Blogs
pages.,
I wish you a very good day.
