OK, so you are feeling a little, shall we say oppressed by your wardrobe's sameness. Here are a handful of easy ways to inject a little je ne sais quoi into the contents of your closet, without parting with too much cash.
1) Upgrade your socks. Four or five pair will go a long way.Get some that are dangerously close to fun.
2) Monogram some of your shirts
3) Wear a white pocket handkerchief every time you wear a suit or sportcoat. The cotton kind is just fine and they cost less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
4) Have your shoes professionally shined, or if you already do, shine one pair yourself, to get a more intimate look at them.
5) Buy some off-price ties in a pattern or style you ordinarily don't wear.
6) Try silk knot cufflinks.
7) Cull your underwear. True beauty starts within.
8) Go through and have all of your loose buttons tightened, get those hems repaired, etc.
9) Make sure all of your shoelaces are in good shape. Use one of those sole edge pens on your shoes.
10) Give at least one garment away. If you give away two or more, reward yourself with one new one.
And Voila, a whole new perspective on the same wardrobe you have always loved.
I hope this guide enables you to love and enjoy your clothes. Remember, clothes make the man. Naked people have almost no influence in society. (Thank you, Mr. Twain).
