I lucked up and found a bunch of white wedding dresses of a Barbie like doll. I bought them for a dollar apiece. They did not come with a veil, so I set out to make some. You may make the veil as fancy as you want. Shown is a fairly simple one.
What you will need:
- Pearl beads on wire
- Thin ribbon of desired color
- Fine netting (the finer the better)
- Ribbon roses of desired color
- Cold glue gun
- Pearl beads on string
- Lace
- Oter decorative items for weddings
- Small clip made for infants hair
What to do:
- Plug in the glue gun.
- Cut a piece of the beads on wire to wrap around Barbie’s head with enough left over to make a rosette.
- Make the circle to fit Barbie’s head. It should be a little loose to make it easier to put on and off.
- Make a rosette with the extra bead wire behind Barbie’s head (basicly a loose knot with one end wound around the other).
- Measure the netting to fall where you want it (sweeping the floor or halfway down back). The finer your netting is the better it will drape.
- If you are making the veil to go over her face, measure out enough length to cover face. Make sure the back will be the long piece and the shorter piece faces front.
- Glue veil under the pearl rosette. Allow to set.
- Place on Barbie’s head and decorate as you wish adding ribbon roses, thin ribbons and pearls on a string to dangle down the back.
- Glue beads on string or lace around the edges of the veils as a trim as desired.
- You may also make a veil by gluing the netting to the small infant's clip and decorating as desired.
- May make veils in multiple colors of netting for bridesmaids. May use ivory or white netting and pearl beads.
