I am begining this guide to -

 (1) help newcommers to the realm of authoring, designing, and running a website or a web application, and

 (2) crystallize my own thoughts in organized steps useful in this field. I guess, the content will change from time to time; I will nevertheless, keep it simple and orderly.

For this little while, please consider following skills as necessary to understand the internet and web technologies:

1. XHTML - Mark-up of various elements of the document.
2. DOM - Document Object Model of webpage.
3. Scripting language Javascript/JScript/ECMA script and VBScript.
4. DHTML - Using DOM/XHTML & scrpting to manipulate elements of webpage for interactivity and generating interest.
5. PHP/ASP/JSP/ASP.NET - for contextual and user-relevant content generation for webpages.
6. MySQL/Microsoft SQL Server/ Oracle SQL - Providing data to server side scripting/programming.
7. AJAX - Designing pages that exchange/update data piecemeal and do not require full page refreshes.
8. XML/JSON - Language used to package data transmitted to the server-side script from database engines.
9. Java, Adobe Flash/Actionscript/ColdFusion/Flex and Microsoft Silverlight - Platform independent programs.
