Watch out for these people who are trying to convince the ebay public to beware of sellers who have webkinz for sale. They warn you with all kinds of different titles such as don't buy the "soon to retire,"  (yet their telling you which ones are soon to retire!!!) or don't buy the "pre-sales". I have bought so many of these Webkinz pre sales because I wanted my grandkids to have them before they were common to the all the stores. I was their HERO! I made them feel special Obviously, the information they are giving out is not based on fact. If it were, the company Ganz who makes the webkinz would be able to sue for giving out information about the retirement of these items. If you are a collector, you yearn for the info on "soon to be retired" Webkinz. I have bought some and I have had good luck. My concern with Webkinz is when you see a retired item going really cheap (like a cheeky cat or dog for 249.00 on Buy It Now.) Usually you see loads of them  soldin the completed items section. I was one of those who bought one. It never came & no refund was ever issued to me. They did not accept paypal either. I did get the sheriff in the town to knock on that persons door and put a scare into him. I eventually got my money, but it was not easy.
