Webkinz charms and accessories - discontinued and a great investment!
disclaimer: Webkinz is a registered trademark of Ganz. I am neither affiliated with ganz nor a fortune teller.
What follows is my informed -but humble- opinion. YMMV: )
When they first came out, Ganz/Webkinz charms were *everywhere*! Most every card or gift store had hundreds for about 3.00 each.
Ganz stopped making the charms and they are no longer found in "brick and mortar stores". While you can now buy the *codes* on the Webkinz site and elsewhere, the actual charms (and bracelets and necklaces) are only avaiable online.
Webkinz charms are no longer made and have become a collectors item.
My first set of 24 charms cost 2.99/charm - about $72! Those 24 charm sets now sell for 350-450 and more.
The actual charms are the real investment. If you search the internet, you'll find that ebay sellers generally offer full sets (and individual charms) for less than other online sites.
The charms and accessories have drastically increased in value. For instance, unicorn charms now sell for about 40; cameos for about 10-15.
As the holidays approach, the rules of supply and demand will likely drive the prices higher. Complete sets - and individual charms, necklaces, and bracelets- are getting harder to find. There are only so many out there. Once they're gone, they're gone!
It makes sense to buy Webkinz charms now- either use the code and preserve the charm, or don't open the package at all. Store them safely- they should continue to appreciate in value. Remember, these are no longer made- you're buying somthing that will soon be about as rare as , well, a unicorn!
Look for "new with un-used or sealed feature code" in the description. Be sure the seller has good feedback and reasonable shipping charges. Sure, you can buy them from me, but there are other great sellers out there, too.
Happy hunting!
