Shortage of Barometers, Thermometers, Hygrometers may be coming soon.
All weather gauges components are made by 2 companies. One is in France and they make the majority of the works. The other one is a British company and they make a high quality component, but are much small.
The problem has come to light that the biggest manufacturer of weather gauge components in France is in what is the USA form of Chapter 11. This French company has been turning down orders for weather instrument components. I was talking to a USA manufacturer of weather instruments and was told that the British Company will be hit with a large demand for parts since the French company does not look good to continue. The British company in presently not set up to handle the demand that it looks like they will get. It will take them some time to increase the production to pick up the loss of the French company.
So as suppliers sell the stock on hand, they may be hard pressed to replace their stock. So with this said, you may very well see a shortage of all weather gauges in the near future.
