Let me share with you a few gifts you can give and some great things you can do for an expectant mama. I've been there three times now...where you are so excited about having a baby (then another, then another.) But then the symptoms of nausea hit, finding comfortable clothes to cover your ever changing body, not to mention the constant urge to rest for just a minute. Sometimes mothers look for these things for themselves, and other times, loved ones around them want to find the perfect gift for them. There are many things that make the nine-month journey pleasant.
Something I found to help with morning sickness (morning, noon, and night sickness for me.) are Preggie Pops, Preggie Pop Drops, and Queasy Pops, Queasy Pop Drops. The unique herb and sour fruit flavored candies are made by Three Lollies, Inc. Flavors include Lavender, Ginger, Green Tea with Lemon, Peppermint, Spearmint, Cinnamon, Papaya, Sour Lemon, Sour Raspberry, and Sour Tangerine. These products are widely recommended by the medical community. They are simply wonderful little treats that come in the form of candy drops and lollipops that tame nausea. Best of all they are made of all natural ingredients that are not a contraindication to other medications or harmful to the baby. They are Kosher, and are available in sugar-free form as well. You can find them in retail stores, drug stores and now on eBay.
Another nice thing for an expectant mother to have is a comfortable maternity wardrobe including a maternity support belt/device. Having a few casual maternity tops with 3/4 length sleeves are great to have year-round. I found owning a white tee and a black tee essential because you can wear them alone or layer them. Also, a great pair of flattering maternity jeans and a denim maternity skirt really provide length to a mommy-to-be's closet. Finally, the greatest part of my maternity wardrobe is my Prenatal Cradle. This device is a five-way support system helped my aching back, lifted my ever-growing belly and reduced the swelling in my legs. The Prenatal Cradle line was developed and recommended by women in the health field. Their products have won many awards over the years. Last year, the Prenatal Cradle was listed as one of the top five gifts to give expecting mothers according to the May 2005 issue of ePregnancy magazine.
Finally, I want to mention one of the greatest gifts for the expectant mother...the gift of time. Be it conversation, time to relax, enjoying a date, or cleaning house for them, all mothers need time. There are great ways you can "give" this gift. Print a certificate or coupons with such things as "30 minutes to spend relaxing" or "One Ice Cream Date". Something that my mother did for me was to give a basket with candles, teas, cocoas, and lotions. You can find all kinds of gifts and gift baskets on eBay. Most sellers, especially those with maternity eBay stores, will send these gift items to the mommy-to-be.
