Here are simple waterbed patch kit directions.
First, do not drain the bed - It is easier to see where the leak has originated if the bed remains full.
Once you find the leak mark it with a permanent marker. If the leak is at a tricky spot and you feel draining would make your life easier as you patch it, remember it's marked, so you may safely drain the bed at this time.
Remember to turn off your waterbed heat system before you drain the bed. The heater is water cooled, so without the mass of water above it may burn out.
One important point, it is highly unlikely to obtain a successful patch on a seam. If you determine that you have a seam leak any patch would simply be a band-aid if you will, and should only be considered temporary.
Now let's patch your leak.
You want to cut the vinyl in a circle just slightly wider in overall radius then the leak itself.
Place a bit of glue on the patch then apply the patch glue side down to the center top of the leak.
Using your finger press on the vinyl smoothing the glue all over, this allows the glue to cover the entire surface area under the patch.
Let it dry, do not use a blow dryer allow it to dry naturally - Could take 10-20 minutes.
Now, place a bit of glue on your finger, and seal the external edge of patch, again let dry naturally - Could take 10-20 minutes.
Congratulations -You did it, it's patched.
