I purchased a Sony Playstation 3 and paid as soon as the auction ended. The next day (Easter) this thief e-mailed me saying that Paypal put a hold on his account because he sold to many Playstations.
He then said he would cancel the auction, and Paypal would refund my money infering that Paypal had the money. The next day I contacted Paypal who advised me that I should file a dispute with this guy but I had to give them 10 days to reply.
Needless to say he didn't, so what ended up happening was that Paypal refunded to me $200. out of their pocket but I'm still out $181.01 of the $381.01 total. He is now banned from Ebay and Paypal until he makes restitution to Paypal and myself.
What I didn't know was that if a seller has less than 98% positive rating on at least 50 feedback is that Paypal will only insure a auction for $200 and not the up to $2000 that you see on alot of auctions.
What a buyer needed to do is only buy from someone who has either a 100% rating or the auction is insured for more than what your paying ( so you will get ALL your money back )
I'm about to give up on ebay, it seems that the scammers have come out in force in the last 6 months. I generally use Ebay because the selection is grearter but I'm beginning to think it's not worth it.
