General Information

Everyone has a favorite washing routine, but we have found that if you follow these general guidelines, your cloth diapers and cloth hemp products will get thoroughly cleaned, last longer, and function properly.

It is important to wash cloth diapers before you use them.  It will usually take several washings before these items reach maximum absorbency.  You can greatly reduce the amount of pre-washing if you wash them as follows:

Wash on hot (at least 130 degrees) with a
regular detergent at half strength and a squirt
of a degreasing dish detergent (dawn or simple
green are best).

The shells of AIO's and covers do not need to be washed prior to the first wearing.

We recommend the dry pail method.  All solid waste should be removed from the cloth diapers before you put them into the dry pail.  If you prefer, you can rinse the soiled diapers out thoroughly in cold water before you put them into the pail.  This will help to reduce stains.

Cloth diapers should be washed every few days to avoid the setting in of odors and the growth of bacteria.  Before  you start your washing machine, make sure that all AIO cloth diaper shells and covers are opened and the soakers are unfolded for easier cleaning.

Do's & Don'ts

Do
use a regular liquid detergent at half the recomended dose per load
Do wash on hot (at least 130 degrees)

Do wash a maximum of 24 cloth  diapers at a time
Do hang your cloth diapers in the sun for easy stain removal

Don't use natural soaps
Don't use chlorine or oxygen bleach
Don't use fabric softeners
Don't use Dreft or Ivory Snow
Don't use washing soda or Borax
Don't use too much or too little detergent

Washing Method for AIO's & Hemp Products

1.
Run a cold soak or pre-wash cycle (optional).
2.  Wash on hot (at least 130 degrees) with a regular detergent at half strength and a squirt of a degreasing dish detergent (dawn or simple green are best).
3.   Dry on warm or hot in the dryer, or line dry.

It is important to make sure that all cloth diapers are rinsed thoroughly as any detergent residue will cause them to retain odors.

Laundromat Washing Method

Washing cloth diapers at the laundromat is really not that different then home laundering.  This method will also come in handy if you are on a trip or travelling and need to use coin operated machines.

1.  Run a cold wash cyctle (optional).
2.  Wash on hot (at least 130 degrees) with a regular detergent at hald strength and a squirt of a degreasing dish detergent (dawn of simple green are best).
3.  Dry on warm or hot in the dryer, or line dry.
