Art.

Self Representing Artists' Art.

OOAK (one of a kind), Abstract, Surreal, Original, Impressionist, Outsider art, so many wonderful terms to learn and explore on ebay.

It's a delight no matter who you are. It's YOUR thing. It's what inspires you; makes you FEEL.

You could feel happy, sad, angry about art. You see art every day. It's on the sidewalks, the architecture, the people. It's seen in the billowy clouds, tasted in your designer coffee,  felt on your cat's fur. It's heard on radios everywhere and in the gentle breeze. It makes you FEEL.

It makes you THINK. It makes you AWARE. Art can wake you up or lull you to sleep. It can drive you to new horizons or settle you home.

Art is everything and everywhere. It is your personal perception as to what art you love. It's what you see, hear, feel, taste and smell that delights your senses.

It's spiritual.

It's yours.

As it is with Self-Representing Artists, they create art in forms of medium of their choosing and design, create, and build something tangible that pleases the artist.

This art can tell a story. It can focus on a cause. This art can encapsulate the finest pinnacle of thought. Sometimes it can be an image of something real, or something fantasy. It can be smooth or rugged, basic or complex.

The artist is a master of the craft no matter the expertise, sometimes toiling, sometimes creating, sometimes playing. The artist weaves the masterpiece and leaves the final tantalizing moment of it's effect to the beholder, who finds in the art -- MAGIC.

And so, be it works of needle and thread, yarn and hook, clay, wood, paint and canvas, nature materials, metal, wax, concrete, photography, music, or paper and glue, it is ART.

When purchasing art from an ebay self representing artist it would be best, therefore, to really rely on good clear photos and a super description. Sellers with a rating of 5 or 500 can be great artists. An ebay rating doesn't show their artistic aptitude.

It isn't important if they are a household name. Many weekend artists who set up shop in their garages and kitchen tables are incredibly talented.

Generally, a person's expertise may lie in art itself and not a certain mode thereof and neither a medium. So it is not relative to the piece of art being listed if they typically paint and this is a sculpture.

Instead of buying a piece of antique art from a well known artist who's art is well out of pocketbook range and is more of a financial investment than a treasure, rely instead on your heart.

It is best to buy pretty much anything, art included, that is something you place importance on.

Something you LIKE.

Something that fits your decor. Something that fills a need such as collecting.

Buy art that speaks to your soul.

If you love the story behind it, how the artist completed it, buy it because it is something made with valuable time and care. Buy it because it is something you want to have. Buy it because it can be a treasured family heirloom. Buy it because it will look great on your mantle. Buy it because it can be admired. Buy it because it's that perfect shade of green you love.

It's not just money, it's an investment in your happiness. But always be sure it can be afforded. If you spend too much out of your range on something you may have a level of regret and the piece's value to you will suffer and you won't enjoy it as much. If you have $5,000 to spend on something to make you happy, then do so. If you have $5, then that is your limit.

Remember that there are shipping fees too. Always read the auction thoroughly.

Photos are as clear as they can be having been taken by a not so necessarily steady hand with a camera on 1/2 battery power in an ill lit room. Sometimes the photo and the item in that postal box will have some difference of opinion. It's not 100 percent. It cannot be handled and put in your home for trial. Do ask as many questions as makes you comfortable with the item before bidding. You want to know it's texture? Ask. Ebay sellers can be very helpful and Artists often love to brag about their work.

Make sure that if it is an odd medium such as a wreath made of  the leaves of the gribble tree, which are illegal to transfer into your state, that you check with your local authorities before claiming it with a  bid.

A large percentage of folks also think that since art is not always mainstream, and sometimes borders on that which can be disturbing or controversial that they must complain.

For purposes of ebay, please check with ebay's rules and regulations before hauling up the pitchforks and forming angry mobs. If it isn't against ebay policy, the seller is welcome to list it, and someone in the ebay world is apt to find it to be enjoyable art.

Remember: Art is your Perception.
