Sometimes descriptions for hand held radios state that the radio has a 6 to 8 MILE RANGE!!! Either by omission or on purpose, the description usually neglects to say that this is on an optimum day, in FLAT OPEN TERRITORY, ie; the Great Plains, or over water. In a forrested or city environment, if you get a clear signal at 1/2 to 3/4 mile it's a great bonus. Just know what to realistically expect.
