is the wool carbonized? Carbonization scorches and burns out of the wool weeds and fecal matter that should not be there in the first place. It causes the wool to lose it's crimp and necessitates "perming" the wool to try to put the curl back in. This adds chemicals and doesn't hold the curl-resulting in a dry, lower quality product. Just as if you had baked your hair in the oven, then given it a permanent. The wool you sleep on should not be carbonized. Ask the seller the origin of the wool before you buy.
is the wool treated with chemicals? our eco-wool is just washed in a mild detergent to remove the excess grease. It's from clean, healthy sheep to begin with that have been sheared properly, with the hind quarters of the fleece discarded.
is the wool bleached? like carbonization, bleaching results in a lighter color wool (what's the difference if it's inside a pillow or comforter, anyway?) but a damaged, inferior quality fiber. our wool is never bleached, carbonized, or treated with chemicals. you will pay more for locally grown + carded wool like this, but you'll have a product that will be a joy to live with for many, many years to come. we spend a third of our lives in bed, your family deserves a healthy environment.
most 'wool allergies' are the body's reactions to the above mentioned processes. Our natural eco-wool is compatible with environmentally sensitive people and supports local industry + agriculture. see more at our ebay store: KELLEYGREENLLC
