Ok I wanted to write a small guide about the new wood Wicks...
Wooden wicks are pretty new to the candle making world.
Here are the positives about them..
They smell awesome when burning! Just like a camp fire or a log buring in the fireplace.
When you use a wood wick there is no need for any fragrance.
They are so easy to use!
( Use with Soy contianer wax)
Pour your candle with your favorite soy container blend..let the candle sit until almost
set and just push the wick in!
DON'T PULL THE WOOD WICK APART! It has a layered look to it and it is meant to be that way for better burning.
Thats it! No sticky dots no hot glue!
Here is where it gets "ify"
I had some friends ask me where I got my wooden wicks because they said theirs would not stay lit or relight.
So I learned this much. If you buy wooden wicks MAKE SURE THEY ARE TREATED!
Plain wood wicks will not light or re light well!
Treated wicks will light right up!
When buying the wick the description should say TREATED.
DO watch the flames on your wooden wicks!
I use treated wooden wicks and the flame can get pretty big!
That is why I turned some of my smaller wood wick candles into fireplace candles...safety!
Plus because of the hight of the flame it look so pretty in your fireplace during the summer without the heat!
You get the soft lighting and smell but not the heat.
So I will only use wood wicks in LARGE candles poured in very sturdy top quality jars or for my smaller fireplace candles.
So inconclusion...
Wood wicks good or bad???
Good if you buy the right wick and use it properly!
LOOK FOR TREATED WOOD WICKS,
USE WITH SOY CONTAINER WAX and good quality jars!
Thank you!
