EMPIRE WAIST DRESS

When a garment is listed as having an empire waist it means that it is a higher than normal waist seam.  The garment fits under the bust; the seam ends either under the bust or a few inches below.   This style can hide, or more politely, can disguise, a multitude of sins!  This waistline tends to keep the focus of attention off of the hips and waist area.  An empire waist can enhance a smaller bust and can also give the allusion of a longer body.  This makes it a particularly wise choice for the petite women.   However, is a very flattering style on any shape!
