For instance, included in the MAGICKAL FORMULARY SPELLBOOK BOOK II  is the magickal uses of the herb VALERIAN.  This herb was used for hundreds of years specifically for its calming effect.  Modern medicine uses the drug Valium, known for its calming effect.
