Recent events amongst eBay have prompted me to write this short but descriptive item on why paranormal items cost what they cost (at least as far as we are concerned and our experience in the paranormal world of collecting long before eBay appeared).

As most of you have noticed we separate everything into a class system and there is a very good reason we do this.  The time involved in casting a class 1 vessel is nothing compared to casting a class 5 vessel.  We're talking the difference of about 15 hours total.  Even a novice can cast a class 1 vessel in about an hour... class 5 objects can take anywhere from 16-24 hours total usually split up amongst multiple days.

So what should a class 1 object cost in comparison to a class 5?  What should a conjurer receive as even an hourly rate for conjuring a spirit?  Well, most people who hold a job (and yes, for some of us this is not only our life's passion but our life's work) and are master's at their trade receive upwards of $20 an hour these days so that would make the traditional class 5 object $320 at the 16 hour minimum.  Then you have to factor in the rarity of the spirit, type of spirit and the spirits powers and abilities.

We used to sell on a very strict schedule of no objects in our store less than $50.  However, we started to receive messages all the time asking if we could make our items more available to the general public and in the interest of giving more people the opportunity to collect without having to break their wallet we lowered the prices of our store to be able to let a whole new realm of people have the opportunity to collect... such as students, single parents, those with financial burdens and those on disability or social security.

eBay has drastically altered the worth of spiritual objects for two reasons... the first being that where there were only specialty stores or psychic fairs locally at one time to find spirits now they are online and available across the world... the second being the explosion of listings in this category after 2005.

Before eBay existed and even in the early days of eBay you would find a class 4 vessel spirited by a human to be in the range of $300-$5,000 depending on the vessel and spirit.  Now, with so many listings you find they are $50-$150.  Supply and demand and there is more than enough supply in this category now!  If you want to know more about protecting yourself please read our guides on Detecting Fakes, Frauds & other Unscrupulous Sellers.
