Many people ask themselves, "Why do people buy old magazine advertisements?" I wondered the same thing until I framed some old coke ads to ad to my kitchen decor. They are unique and not reproductions, therefore not everyone can go to the local discount store and buy these. Many ads were produced only once, and never again. Advertisements are a paper from the past that brings back old memories of yesterday that will never be here again. I love looking at the old advertisements and actually they bring back happy childhood memories. I can remember paying 10 cents for a bottled coca-cola at the old gas station on the corner of my street. It had the old soda machine with the pull-type bottle dispenser. I saw an ad with that type of machine in it and it instantly brought back happy memories. (By the way it was an old Esso gas station which I also found an ad for!) I remember mother saying "give me $2.00 worth of gas", and the attendant would wash the windows, check the oil, check the tire pressure, and then finish pumping gas! You can't get a squirt of gas for $2.00 anymore! They also gave out S&H green stamps which I also found an ad for. Many people use ads for scrapbooking and I have also seen purses made from old ads! Collectors of old coca-cola bottles for example may want some old ads to hang near their collection for immediate authenticity. Collectors of old cars for example may want the original ads to display with the car. There are many things you can do with old ads. In my opinion they are art from the past, and we can relive that fun time in our lives with vintage advertisements. I sell vintage ads, and many other various collectibles, so feel free to browse my store... you may just find that special advertisement to frame for your collection or decor!
