Have you ever been scammed by a seller or thief who has sold you an item under the impression that it is authentic? Do you wish you had the ability to spot out the fake items? I am an honest eBay seller, and I sell and study authentic clothing! I will help you out
JUST BECAUSE IT SAYS 100% AUTHENTIC GUARANTEED DOES NOT MEAN IT'S REAL
About 65% of items on eBay are fake, but promoted as authentic. But there are good deals and authentic clothing on eBay.
Don't let it happen to where you have a bad experience!!! It's really not that hard once you learn the basics. Knock-off sellers are only here for 1 thing, and that's to make a quick buck! The most recommended way to help spot out fake clothing is to BUY the REAL DEAL from the AUTHORIZED dealer first!! This will make future purchases much easier. The most secure and for sure way to spot out fake clothing is to take the item to the local AUTHORIZED retailer and ask them yourself. Or, take the item to the local retailer and compare it with fake items. If not, REALLY take a look at the item.
LEARN THE BASICS
It will not be hard to tell. There is no comparison. Fake articles look very cheap, dingy and plain. Items that come in CLEAR PLASTIC bags are FAKE! You will NEVER buy an ED HARDY shirt that comes in a plastic bag! Or any AUTHENTIC clothing! ALL KNOCK-OFF clothing will be similiar but NEVER the exact same as the authentic model. So, if your unsure visit the company website or one that is authorized to sell the clothing and see if you see that model. Authentic clothing is always heavy, thick material and hard to fall apart. Fake clothing is always thin and flemsy. Think about it. They use very cheap material to sell at a low price. They really have no true structure because children are usually making the items!!!
A SELLER THAT ACTS ANONYMOUS?
As far as prevention goes, make sure you always ask questions before you buy. I see a lot of listings on eBay where sellers tell buyers don't ask anymore questions!?!?!? Why not? Because they have something to hide, usually the fake item they are selling!!! Ask questions about place of purchase, and most importantly, the reciept. If they can't provide the reciept it's because CHINA didn't provide one.
ITEMS FROM HONG KONG
Items that come from Hong Kong, 99.999999% of the time are fake. No doubt about it. Stay away from those. WATCH OUT for sellers that claim to get there items from SUPPLIERS(this means knock-off suppliers in china) and from a FACTORY OUTLET that makes the authentics for a cheaper price(this is a funny one to me). UNRELEASED means FAKE! If they don't have at least somewhere in the listing authentic then it is definitely fake. WATCH OUT for sellers that claim to be authorized sellers! Think about it. How are they authorized sellers on Ebay?! Wouldn't they have a website where the retailers would authenticate this! That is the BIGGEST SCAM ever because they trick YOU, the buyer very easily. They are simply cheating you out of your money and stuffing their pockets. They don't care if you were lied to and spent your hard earned money on something you didn't want, THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY THIEVES!!
YOUR FAVORITE SELLER HAS 100% FEEDBACK AND IS A POWERSELLER
Just because a seller has 100% feedback and is a power seller does not mean they have authentic items. Usually the buyer sees the new tags, authenticity card, and gets excited for the new product they see as authentic. Then, when it someone tells them it is a knock-off or it starts to fall apart they can't change their positive feedback they left. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS!
Being a Power Seller means nothing as far as whether or not they are selling counterfeit items. It just means they sell a certain dollar amount of items per month. FAKE or REAL. Think about it. eBay makes money off of powersellers. Regardless if they sell real or fake, eBay makes a lot of money. They don't spot out the fakes, the owner's of that particular product does. Bogus right. eBay leaves it up them to do it.
THINK BEFORE YOU BUY
You see a CLOTHING that retails for $198 from the retailer. But someone on eBay is offering the same clothing for $40? This is because it is not real. Ed Hardy shirts on ebay for $20 to $30 bucks.. geewweeze.. GET REAL! I am not trying to make money I'm just very upset because they are cheating YOU & ME! It is very wrong that the designers have put in so many years of hard work, blood, sweat & tears for someone to unfairly just take their name and corrupt it just to make a quick dollar. It's no different than stealing out the store. The spirit of deception is the spirit of stealing!!!
THERE IS A WAY TO STOP THEM!!!
There is a way to end sellers from selling fake goods. Go to "report this item" at the bottom of the listing you want to report and email eBay to address the problem. If you have any concern about being scammed please get involved! Take action!
