I recently sold a Nokia 8800 Black Limited Edition phone with a Buy it now and Immediate Payment option and I am so glad I didn't ship the phone! The buyer asked if I could ship where he will be working for the next 3 months and I said OK. His address was in Indonesia! After sending payment, Paypal immediately caught it and held payment. I had no idea what was going on until I called them. The gentleman on the phone told me to NEVER ship phones to Indonesia, Nigeria, Africa and a list of countries that he said and are on the Paypal site. He told me to watch out for these scams, frauds, and ID thefts!
I know this is a lot of reading but this will save you in the long run, it saved me as a PowerSeller! Please read:
There are two things I want to share with you today besides scams and it's something I even learned as a PowerSeller with over 500+Feedback!
If you send packages overseas, make sure it has tracking because USPS Global Priority does not have tracking and it's just a reference number. Even if you have the receipt and the stamped custom forms, these are considered "Intent to Send." This DOESN'T mean you sent the item! Paypal needs to see tracking in order for you to be protected as a seller so WATCH out!
THIS is what you need to watch out for. On the bottom, if the seller is verified, confirmed, and is a great seller, Paypal will cover you up to $2,000 as a buyer. But for those who have 1-10 feedback and are new to eBay, if you look at the bottom, it tells you Paypal will ONLY cover you $200! And you just bought yourself a $900 phone and if the buyer doesn't ship it, you just lost close to $700 (because of Paypal charges usually $50 for filing a claim)
There are a lot of sellers you need to watch out. If don't want to be scammed, buy from those where Paypal will cover up to $2,000 because these are the sellers that Paypal LOVE. They go that extra mile to protect us as sellers who are verified, who have confirmed address and etc.
I did not know this until two nights ago and Please don't make the same mistake! I know this is long but it will save you for those who do not know yet. Thanks again for reading and I really hope this has helped some of you starting sellers or buyers! Take care and God Bless!
