When visiting the Hawaiian Islands for a vacation there are several things to consider. First, what is the objective of your vacation? What do you want to see, and what do you want to do? Most cases it is best to get a package deal that includes room, airfare, and car. If you want to stay in the middle of a metropolis I would recommend staying in Waikik. If you want more of a remote location I would recommend the resort on the Waianae Coast, "Ko 'Olina". Both locations are ok. But again it comes back to what is your requirement. Going to an authentic luau I would suggest the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laiea. As a local born and raised this is the guidance that I give to all my friends and family that come to visit. Hope it helps!
