I have had a love of vintage clothing since my Junior High days. Pretty In Pink ring a bell? I loved going to yard sales, estate sales and second hand stores just to find a treasure. And, I still do!

I travel around my local Seattle area finding great pieces to share with you, and a few for myself. It's a great way to get some personal one of a kind style. And of course there is no larger venue for finding items than on ebay! There are alot of sellers I have found that I just love and of course my own items (stardustdreamsvintage).

When choosing vintage items first hand or through ebay, there are a few things to consider.

1. Know the fabric if possible. This will give a you a good idea of texture, color fastness and durability. Also it is hard to determine texture and fabric weight by looking at pictures, so ask questions.
2. Imperfections. Most vintage pieces will have some imperfections on a minor scale. Knowing what is minor or major is key. Consider what you can do: launder/dry clean, sew on a button, fix a hem or seam, shorten an item, add a patch, etc.. Most things can be fixed at little or no additional cost, especially if you can be creative. If the project seems hopeless, ie. like to much work or expense pass it by.
3. Fit. Vintage items run small. Sizing guidelines have changed over the years so an item that was a 10 several years ago may fit more like a 6 in todays sizes. Alot of vintage pieces also were custom or homemade so sometimes sizing tags are not provided. So try things on, know YOUR measurements and go by measurements provided from sellers for the right fit.

              Having fun with your wardrobe can be done with great vintage items! Just DON'T over do it. Do not go for a head to toe vintage outfit, choose one key piece and incorporate it with modern clothing and or accessories. And keep your era's seperate. Its never good to be wearing a 70's boho top over a tight 80's mini skirt with white 60's mod gogo boots. But do have fun and be creative!
