The 80's are back this fall and the fashions are once again fun, funky and very bohemian. Women's military jackets or coats are the rage on the runway this year, metal buttons, double breasted and tweeds are the extremely popular choice. When these jackets are adorned with big slouchy pirate boots or retro Western boots, and paired with fitted acid washed jeans (the more holes, the better) women once again to breaking the rules of conservative fashion.
Fitted shirts and sweaters with puffy sleeves, big cuffs, ruffles, victorian lace, and ascot collars that tie at the neck are great paired with military jackets, tweed coats and lovingly worn jeans or long skirts. Long sweater coats with tie waists, echoing the sleek look of the 70's, are are a must have in your fall wardrobe. Quilted jackets made from peasant and calico fabrics are also an important staple in every wardrobe this year. Sweaters and cardigans covered in beads and sequins are great paired with slouchy bohemian or messenger purses.
Chocoate brown, teal blue and olive green are the hot colors of the season, combined with rusty orange, sienna, cream and black for fresh appeal.
Big sunglasses and pointelle sweater dresses of the 70's are once again popular in the fashion circles, where popular DIY hand knit and crocheted sweaters layered with vintage tops are all the rage.
The ethnic and peasant dresses that filled closets in the 1960's and 1970's, made from loose and flowing fabrics covered in embroidery and beads to vintage Gunne Sax prairie and bohemian dresses that lace up the front or back are popular once again.
Big chunky bangle bracelets and necklaces made from wood, brass and plastic/lucite--are the perfect accessories to polish off your look. The owl jewelry that our grandmothers flaunted in the 70's are back--along with lots of layered goldtone chains with big charms like keys, butterflies, and shark's teeth.
Belts are also back and look for wide belts worn low on the hips, big buckles, and tooled leather for bohemian touches.
The purse polishes off any outfit and basically, the more unusual the purse, the better. Look for big slouchy patchwork leather purses with big brass buckles on the flap, messenger bags, and purses from the 40's to the 80's (the more unusual the better) are in high demand. Clutch purses are also must haves as you strive to create your own personal style. Sequined purses, shoes, and clothing are also flashy fashion statements that are once again back en vogue.
