What is collectible about sewing buttons? Sewing button collecting is
one of America's oldest hobbies and is still florishing today. All
kinds of sewing/clothing buttons are collectible including new, vintage
and antique examples. Buttons are/were made up of at least 40 different
materials in all shapes, sizes and designs. Dig around your house,
nearly everyone has a "button box". Many of us recall playing with our
Mom or Grandmother's button box as kids. Who knows what is hiding
there. Don't forget to use Collectibles: Vintage Sewing: Buttons
category for any sewing buttons you find that seem to be out of the
ordinary, or if you just want to browse and see if you can find any
buttons like the ones you have for sale. Craft type or non-collectible
buttons have a place on eBay too, under Crafts/Sewing/Buttons. Today's
button collectors enjoy a tight knit collecting fellowship which meets
at local, state and national button shows and conventions or on the
internet thru a variety of chat groups and online clubs. Every state in
the US has an organized button society and many have local clubs you
can join, not to mention the National Button Society and a florishing
online button club called ButtonBytes which is NBS-recognized and FREE
to join through GoogleGroups. We do "meet" thru e-mail so your mail
count could go way up, just be advised.. Stop by the Collectibles:
Vintage Sewing: Buttons category to see what your treasures may be
worth. I'm "svengali", a long time button seller on eBay and moderator
of "ButtonBuddies" eBay Community chat group. Come by the chat group to
post your question or comment today, all are welcome. You can even post
images if you'd like.
