The Hunt for vintage drum parts

If you are reading this then you are possibly looking for a part to complete a project drum.  I'm here to say I have been there before and the best advise I can offer is just be patient.

Your part will show up some day and the reason I'm writing this guide is that I got a part on Ebay that I have been looking on and off for more then 2 years!  Yes, it takes time and there are a few things you can do depending on the part you need.

I routinely search for marching snare drums for hoops, strainers and lugs, because they normally sell for less and the shells are usually pretty beat up from being a marching drum.  I take the part/parts I need and sell the remainder parts.

Ebay also has what is called Ebay Saved Searches and you can do a search of the item you want and then save it in your My Ebay.  The search will run automatcially and send you alert emails when something matches it.

Ebay also has a wanted section called Want it now where you can post your wanted items.. 

Then you can also visit drum shows, online dealers and drum forums by searching vintage drum forums and there are sections you can post your wanted requests in.

Most dealers do not have an inventory of the older rare items and Ebay is the best place to find them.

So this guide is just a way to let you know your part will show up and the funny "Part" of it all is that when it does, two or three more show up in the next few days!
