Collecting and/or displaying vintage ads has become popular. Many ads were only run one time and are quite rare. Popular artists from over the eras did many illustrative advertisings and can be found here on eBay. These all look wonderful framed and hung over a collection, or in an office. They make great gifts once they have been framed & matted under glass. Some people do collect particular subject ads. Subjects like: cars, trucks, boats, bikes, planes, motorcycles, household goods, celebrity endorsements, medical or pharmacy, etc. My ads are all inspected carefully under bright light and any flaws are noted in my description.
1914 Artificial Leg and many other vintage medical ads I have right now!
Many of my vintage ads do not have the date on the page, that is why I put that information in the sale. Most old mags only printed the date on the cover & title page. Your ad/article might not even have the name of the magazine on it...if you need that mag name/date after your purchase, ask me. I do not offer an expensive COA printed off on my printer that says my item is original because I have removed the item myself from the original publication. All my ads are original, not copies. Check out my ads, I have many that dealers sell at much higher prices, most of mine starting at $5-$7. And I am always happy to get my starting price! I have sold advertisements for 12 years now and I do know their value. I may occasionally have a higher price on a rare print ad or brochure/insert ad, but I will usually take a best offer.
unique 1908 Indian Motocycle ad - not the way your item will be delivered!
As for shipping ads, vintage paper can be fragile and must be handled with care. Old paper should not be rolled up and shoved inside a tube for shipping as this could damage the vintage fibres the paper is made of...it should be sent flat inside a protective acid-free bag with an acid-free board, and another stiff piece of cardboard placed in a manila envelope and marked "photographs-do not bend". Only the largest paper items may need to be shipped in a tube if too large for a 12"x15" envelope. All magazine ads and most prints will fit in that size or smaller envelope just fine.
