Filtration specialsThe new via aqua protein skimmer and multi filter is one of the most ecocomical and versatile protein skimmers on the market today. It is made by commodity axis in calif and they have their own website with specs. It is a nice hang on unit and it quite powerful. It utilizes a wet dry motor unit and has a chamber that can house bio balls to make it a wet dry unit, or you can by their uv sterilizer unit and install it in it. I use this filter on 70 gallon salt aquariums along with a powehead prefilter and it works excellent for reef tanks. The only problem I experienced is if power goes out or when you start it , it must be primed with a primer pump(included) and at first it is a little difficult to adjust. You must adjust both the flow control handle and the venturi lift to create a good skimming flow. It took me about a week to learn but after getting the adjustments right it skims the best of any skimmer I have seen. I give it 3 out of four stars. In the future lets hope all protein skimmers are a little more user friendly
