This is a follow up guide for some folks that wrote a guide regards to having to have software for a cdma cellphone, you do not have to hook a cdma cellphone up to a computer to reprogram it. Its just matter changing the NAM, System ID and HOME SID. As with cdma cellphones, normally they will refuse to use it with their carrier because it is not a phone they sold, i am currently using a NOKIA 3589i cellphone with Alltel, it is a Verizon cellphone, the data side don't work but the voice side works regardless, The main important thing is always use *228 after the phone is programmed to load the new prl this tells the phone what towers to pull from.
Regards of all CDMA cellphones, the logo will not prevent you from using the phone with another carrier. It is just burned into the software of the phone from that particular carrier.
As I have been using this phone for the past 4 years and no problems with roaming off of verizon. Metro PCS Verizon and Alltel and the Simple freedom nokia 3585i cellphones are never locked and can be reused, though carriers cannot guarantee it will work with their system. Sometimes you may have to fight with them or sweettalk them into letting you use another providers cellphone.
