There are several measures you can take to ensure that the page ranked domain name you plan to purchase
does indeed have valid PR and not forged/fake PR.
PR can be faked by redirecting any domain name to names that
have actual (valid) high PR by using 301 or 302 redirects.
A redirected domain will eventually get indexed reflecting the PR of the domain it has been redirected to.
This is fake PR on the part of the redirected name.
To check the validity of your PR domain:
1) Go directly to Google.com. In the search box type the info:TheDomainNameYouAreChecking.
(Of course you replace "TheDomainNameYouAreChecking" with the actual domain name)
There should be one result and that result should match the domain name you typed in.
If it does not, there is the first clue that the domain name has been redirected.
2) Type in the domain name into various checking tools.
I recommend using at least three tools as tools sometimes malfunction or give false reads.
Some of the free tools can be found at/ or are:
The Google Toolbar
seochat .com
rankchecker .com
digpagerank .com
checkpagerank .net
One other thing to check in determining the validity and the strength of PR is the quality and number of
backlinks. Some of the above tools offer backlink checking services as well.
You can also find Google links by typing into the Google search box: [links:]TheDomainNameYouAreChecking
Page rank is sometimes unpredictable and can change or disappear altogether with little notice.
With the free tools offered above, you can minimize your risk and enhance your ability to find quality
PR names.
We continue to bring you information meant to assist you in the purchase of domain names.
