Vanessa Bruno- A Guide to Vanessa Bruno & Fashion
Designer Vanessa Bruno's family background was fashion intensive, with a Danish supermodel for a mother and a father who founded French fashion house Emmanuelle Khan. These days she has her own sexy sensibility, and her contemporary collections are just quirky enough to appeal to international hipsters and celebrities. Her designs have been variously described as offbeat, clever, and fresh.
By her own admission, Bruno loves to mix fabrics and materials. She's not afraid of strong fabrics, like boiled wool, either. With typical French boldness, she'll use wool to make a tube top, and maybe even blend it with cotton to create something truly unique. She sells her signature pieces at her two boutiques in Paris (said to be frequented by Gwyneth Paltrow and Johnny Depp's paramour, Vanessa Paradis), and at some exclusive stores.
Eager buyers in the U.S. tend to snap up Bruno's creations. Those new to international high fashion shopping should be aware that her clothes use French sizing, and should be sure they have taken that into account when purchasing. Bruno also has a line of bags and totes that have proven very popular in Europe. The bags have a reputation for being sturdy, durable, and very hip.
Not surprisingly, retail prices for Vanessa Bruno items usually run at several hundred dollars a piece. Accordingly, finding a Vanessa Bruno skirt or dress for anything less than $100 can be considered something of a steal. Totes tend to run a little less.
