Villeroy & Boch
"Once Upon a Rhyme"
by Renee Faure
The Once Upon a Rhyme Collection is a six plate set released by Villeroy & Boch. The plates are 7 3/4" and the firing was limited to 21 days. The plates are not for food use. The plates are signed "R Faure" in the image.
Renee Faure is a third-generation artist, the daughter of noted artist Nan Greacen and the grand-daughter of the American Impressionist Edmund Greacen. Renee has an impressive resume' of compositions and placement. She has been honored by the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society and the National Society of Illustrators. One of her largest public pieces of art is the "Five Flags" mural that is on the walls of the Senate Gallery in the Florida Capitol Building.
There is a French actress by the same name but they are not the same person.
This series of plates evokes the beauty and innocence of the childhood rhymes that all of us once recited. On the reverse of each plate (pictured below) is the plate name, artist and the stanzas from the poem after which the plate is named.

Just imagine these plates upon a soft pastel colored wall overlooking a young child's room. This set has the makings for being a multi-generational heirloom as the plates are displayed on the wall of your child or grandchild now. When the child grows up, these can be put away until the time when the child has now become a parent. And the cycle begins again. What would you give for a set of plates that graced the walls of your mother's room when she was a child? This is the opportunity to give that memory to someone you care about.
These plates are available year around but not in large quantities. The vast majority of owners want to keep these. Occasionally, a complete set comes up for sale. Don't be surprised if the seller is asking for more than the total of the individual plates. They are looking for extra compensation for assembling the set. Be patient.
I am not a dealer and I do not sell.
