)Virginia Cleo Andrews (born Cleo Virginia Andrews) was born in 1923 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Her first book Flowers in the Attic was published in 1979. V. C. Andrews died in 1986. She was 62 years old.
After her death the family hired a ghost writer to write the over 60 additional novels that V.C. Andrews had outlined and synopsized before her death.
