Using phones from other networks

When you are travelling, visiting family or hanging out with
friends, you sometimes see a really cool phone (remember
GSM in our case) that you just got to have or want right now.
 
Oh, it is only available on that network and you cannot use it
on your network.   Well, the solution to this is to unlock your
mobile phone and then you can use it on your network.  I talk
to people all the time who are travelling and see a very cute phone
(specially girls) that they got to have and they come to me all
 sad that they cannot use it since they did not realize the network
locked it to be used only on their network.  

I cannot recall the last time I used a phone from my network,
I think it was 2003.  I personally love usingBlackberrys's and PDA phones and the
network I am with does not carry any great PDA phones however
they offer an unlimited data plan.  So you can have all the data you
want, but we are not giving you a phone that can handle a lot of data:
hhhhhhmmmmmmmmm.    

Now a little trick that I do., I start by purchasing the mobile phone online
(Part 1).  I normally purchase it from another network (Part 3), most
often from another country.  I get more selection, since I find other
networks have much better phones, I am not limited in my selection.

I enjoy the phone then it comes time to resell it.  I mostly sell it locally
because of 2 major benefits.  First, my competition for the item is not one
or very low since the phone is from another country.  Second, any phone i list have to have a video tuturail giving the buyer more exposure to what they are buyin to understand more look at my items for sale. This make you more valuable to the buyer becuase you can prove the look of the item this lowers your competition rate.
