As an Ebay store owner you are given at least 5 custom pages. These pages can be used for a variety of purposes. Most use them to highlight aspects of their store. A very smart move!
There are some great uses for these pages, but I would like to focus on one that Ebay has just started to provide store owner's with in the past few months. This is a custom built FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page.
Why is this such a great idea? There are a few reasons. But first let's see how it works. First go to your My Ebay page. On the left sidebar you will then choose Manage My Store. After you click on this, the page will change. On the left again, choose Custom Pages under Store Design.
Create a new page - Click the "Create new page" link. You will then name your page and select a layout. When Choosing FAQ as a layout, the question and answer fields are predetermined and you just fill in the blanks.
What Should Be Included? You will want to include various information about how you operate as a seller. Here are some ideas:
- Return Policy- Do you have one? If so, clearly state how it works.
- Payment Options- Do you accept Paypal, checks, money orders? How should a customer pay for their items?
- Processing Time- How often do you ship? This can alleviate a buyer's need to e-mail asking where their product is.
- How Your Items Are Made- If applies
- Where do You Ship? - Do you only ship Domestically? Or will you ship worldwide? Let everyone know!
- Do You Take Special Orders?
- Do you smoke or have pets?
These are just some suggestions. The beauty is that you can customize these as they apply to your specific store and items. Just think how much less time you would spend answering e-mails! That frees both you and your customers up for more important things - like buying and selling!
Every store owner operates in a different manner and this can leave buyers confused. Why not make things a little simpler for everyone? A shopping experience through your store should be a positive experience for everyone involved. In one evening you can set up a means to make this a much easier task.
Try not to word things in a negative manner. This may turn some away. Instead of saying "no personal checks, no exceptions!", why not say "we will gladly accept Paypal payments and money orders for all purchases"? This leaves a friendly and positive note.
If you look at most major selling websites, you can most certainly find a FAQ section. Why not set up your store like the big guys? It's fast and easy here on Ebay!
