The Robotic Pooper Scooper!

Love it, love it, love it!  I recently purchased the basic LitterMaid Self Cleaning Litter Box, basic model. I had seen this product and was very skeptical. After years of scoopin' doo, I resigned and gave that job to my hubby, who's been the official poo-scooper for the past year. Feeling sorry for him,  I finally did some research and found some great LitterMaid reviews, very happy customers and...well...just cats.

How It Works

1. Cat enters the litter box and parties! There are two little sensors inside the box. After they are blocked for 5 seconds, they are triggered.
2. 10-12 minutes after Cat does the nasty and leaves the box, the cleaning cycle starts and the rake begins to push Cat's business into the waste receptacle.
3. The rake opens the waste receptacle compartment (cat stares crazy-eyed ready to pounce while this takes place), dumps the doo, lid closes and rake returns to starting position.

Waste Removal

Waste removal is easy. Simply remove the lid and waste receptacle, seal and throw away. The receptacle does a great job containing odor, honestly can't smell a thing with the lid closed!

The Boxes

LitterMaid Self Cleaning Basic - basic model, no ramp. Can be battery operated or plugs into a/c oulet.  22.25" long, 16.5" wide, 8.0" height. Sold with four waste receptacles.

LitterMaid Elite Mega-Advanced - this is the Cadillac (or is that Escalade now?) version of the cleaner. Has a Sensor Activated Ionic Air Cleaner that activate after the rake with each use and every 10 minutes at night! Removable steel, detachable rake for easier cleaning, Kitty Kabana tent for privacy and a paw cleaning ramp. Wow! Larger Capcity 31" long, 19" wide , 9" height.

Pros vs. Cons

The pros far out-weigh the cons on this product. Only problem I've found is if you put too much litter in the box (there is a fill indicator line inside the box) the unit will not function.

I was afraid my cat, Fred, might no use the box. He took to it with no problem at all. I should have known, he used my driver's side floormat once when he was locked in my car over night by accident!

Over-all this is a wonderful product. It's great walking into the laundry room in the morning and smelling fresh linens instead of poo!
