I am a seller of Collectible Tradingcard Games in the Netherlands, using several European eBay sites (nl, uk, de, fr, be, it).
I used AuctionLynxx (AL) for a free trail period of 2 weeks. In this Guide I will inform you about my experience with AuctionLynxx. Hopefully this helps you to decide whether this feature can be of any use for you inside your listings.
Functionality
AL is developed by a non eBay company and claims higher sales. It is a eBay add-in feature in which you can define new categories inside your listings. Inside each category you can browse easily through the connecting listings, page by page, and you can define a tickertape underneath your listing in which all pictures of the auctions within one pages constantly are moving from left to right. This is a very appealing feature and makes your auction looking very professional.
Usability
The AL categories defined are connected to those known to eBay - you dont have a free choice. This means you cant differentiate between different YuGiOh series if the eBay country doesnt allow you to. In the Netherlands you can distinguish between structure decks and single cards but not between Enemy of Justice and Power of the Duelist. Therefore 80 % of my on average 600 listings are appearing in 1 AL category.
AL doesnt support eBay.uk and eBay.de listings. These auctions do not appear in the AL categories. The category is shown with a number but no listings are connected to it. AL doesnt support combined use of European eBay sites.
Browsing can be done from A - Z but not in any other direction. Inside a page about 20 auctions are shown. The listings are shown in alphabetical order. And if you use a standard for naming your listings, like I did, everything will look organised. But if not, this will look messy. If 1 category has too many listings, browsing to Power of the Duelist cards is very exhausting - you can find them on page 36.
Maintenance
If you want new to define new categories inside your listing this can be done easily, but an AL administrator has to refresh them. Listings inside the new category wont appear before the AL administrator has defined a new SQL query on the eBay database and pressed a button to activate.
This causes delays, you will never know when this is done.
Free trial period
You will get a free trial period of 2 weeks. If you want to back out, 1 email to AL support is enough to unsubscribe.
Deactivating
After deinstalling AL the HTML code of your eBay listing remains unchanged. All new auctions are not updated anymore and the oldies will remain where they are (for a period of max 30 days). This causes your auctions to look very incomplete.
It is not clear to me yet whether the code will ever disappear from my auctions.
Communication
Problems reported by me are not answered directly. I mentioned a few examples of missing auctions inside the AL. I reported the exact definitions of th category, both eBay and AL. Through my perseverence I finally got an answere : there will be a new release. In general communication is friendly but I get the impression AL is a 1 person company. I am already waiting for an update for already 10 days.
I asked to remove the code from my listings or to reinstall and refresh because my auctions do look incomplete now and I am losing sales through this. Nothing has been done so far.
New Releases
A new version will be released next year which will support the combined European versions.
