Everyone knows that the high cost of attending college/university is rapidly mounting every day. Whether or not one has a scholarship, there are many things that are considered extra expenses & must haves.
Textbooks are one of the most important & expensive must have items on every student's list. Saving as much money as possible, especially if you're on a tight budget is something to be take under very serious consideration.
Instead of buying textbooks new, look to buy used textbooks. Barnes & Noble has a used books division that specializes in college/university textbooks & will save students a considerable amount of money. Of course, there are many other resources in acquiring used textbooks at reasonable prices.
Before you hand over your hard-earned money, whether you're a parent or the student purchasing the much needed textbooks, there are a few things to take into consideration:
The main factor being - are the books out-dated or are they still being used in connection with the classes/courses being taken?
Next, what shape are the books in? Are there pages missing and/or loose, broken spines/bindings?
Are the books in question in in good shape over-all?
Is the going rate for the books reasonable?
When you no longer need the book/books, do you intend to keep them? Or are the books in good enough condition to seek re-sale & re-coup some of the money originally paid for them?
Is there a CD Rom included with the book(s) & if so, is it missing? In good condition? Books that may include a CD Rom are even more expensive than those that do not.
