Hello Everyone:
in July I purchased some trains from ebay seller Trainz, I now realize it was a mistake.
in the past I have never had problems with this ebay seller, the service was fast, the items always well packed and the items were well described.
that is until my last purchase from them, emphasize the word "LAST PURCHASE".
I purchased a pair of RSO steam engines in HO scale, they were supposed to be in near mint condition and possibly never used.
TOTALLY WRONG DESCRIPTION WHICH IS SAD FOR A TCA MEMBER.
the Baltimore and Ohio 4-6-2 had residue all over the top half of the locomotive, there was little brownish spots all over the top half in the finish, not to mention the dust that was on both of the locomotives that they quickly brushed off prior to listing on ebay.
the other engine was a 4-6-2 also it was in the southern pacific daylight paint scheme, out of the two this one was in better shape.
the Baltimore and Ohio steam engine had a crack in the smoke stack, no where in the auction description is there any mention of it, and it was there prior to shipping because some of the dust was present in the crack.
I picked both of these engines up for an ederly friend who likes model railroading, but I could not give him a broken engine.
So I tried for a week to get a hold of the people at Trainz, let me tell you the worst customer service when it comes to answering emails.
I got impatient and contacted pay pal, filled a report, but I had to wait for the seller's response.
I said the heck with it, I listed the engine on ebay and almost got what I had in it.
The only difference this time around, IT HAD AN HONEST DESCRIPTION.
What's funny about all of this, Trainz finally contacted me after I sell the locomotive.
Now the time frame is 2 weeks after the initial sale, a week and a half after it arrived.
They asked for photos of the engine, I provided them and then they asked if I wanted a partial refund or to return it.
I said partial refund, and I never heard from them again, except for their crappy emails about sales and pre-orders of which I have tried to unsbscribe for about 5 times.
I have seen a lot of negatives and neutrals on that seller, the bad part is the volume they sell covers up the percentage of how bad they actually are on ebay.
TCA is a great way to grade trains, I used to be a TCA member, but I no longer collect Lionel trains.
But I use my experience in grading to pass an honest judgement in what I sell, and I take good pictures to show people what they are actually bidding on.
I think Trainz is getting too big for it's own good and they are more focused on quantity rather than quality.
I will never buy anymore ho scale trains from that place ever again.
I realize this may sound harsh, but realize they have this "SUPPOSED" satisfaction guarantee.
where was this guarantee when I purchased my trains?.
I only posted this out of honesty to help warn others, just on case.
take care
