Are you thinking of upgrading to the latest video game system like the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, or the Wii?  You don't have to wait for their prices to go down.  If you say the newer one will cost you more?   Then why not sell your old one here on eBay.

Here are some tips for getting more for your older game console:

  • List online. eBay is still by far the best place to sell and will fair you more than garage sale, newspaper ads, or sites like Craig's list.
  • Double check to make sure your current system works and note down everything that will be going with the console (i.e. game controllers, cables, original packaging, free games... etc).
  • Clean the console and the controllers as best as possible. Make sure no traces of dust can be found. Canned air and swabs very lightly dampened in water may be enough to do the job.
  • Get ready for picture taking by arranging the console and the controllers with their cords neatly wrapped on a clutter-free flat surface such as on top of a table with clean white cover if possible. Avoid taking pictures of your items on the carpet, bed, or brown carpet. Remove any other objects that could distract attention away from your item.
  • Take great professionally looking pictures by following simple these simple suggestions. Take pictures during the day or where bright good lighting is available. Make sure the items are in focus. Most regular or digital cameras would tell you your subject via a green light in the viewfinder - usually by pressing the camera's button a tripod if you have one and use the timer settings. This method will produce clearer and blur free pictures. Take close up pictures of everything if possible including any dents, scratches, or dings.
  • To get better and higher bids, throw in one or two games. Games outgrown, less favored, or found stuck behind the TV all these times would work. If you have the original box and instructions, you're already way ahead of the competition. Why? Because the bidders generally think that anyone who keeps these boxes and instructions are most likely neat and orderly at their homes. This game console was in good hands.

With the money you make on your old video game console, buying the newer console will certainly cost a lot less.. Make yourself or your kids happy by having the latest game console in no time at all.

Selling older items and buying newer ones for a lot less is a concept not yet understood by a lot of people. You can keep being ahead of the Jones' or your friends without them knowing that it's not really costing you an arm and a leg.   The "champagne and caviar" lifestyle is within reach for smart shoppers.  Learn about the little known but powerful concept of the secondary market.   Get the book titled "Future Shop" by Daniel Nissanoff.    Don't have the time to read or maybe you just don't like reading?  The universe has thought of everything to make it easy for you to learn. This book has audio version (Books on audio). You can get them here on eBay as well.

It's a no brainer to post on eBay. There are many resources that could help you start if you don't have any experience at all. Some eBay sellers like us are certified Trading Seller Assistants and could help you do the selling
