Well the newest version of the iPhone has once again hit the market. Upgraded with software 2.0.2 firmware and outfitted with 3G internet browsing, this iphone is unstoppable... Unless, you do not know how to unlock it! Well I am here to reassure you from my own personal experience that the solution is quicker, easier, and cheaper then ever before. With the first versions of the iphone, unlocking was a software hassle, if you were not technically savy you probably paid an online company or a local wireless shop to unlock and jail break the phone, usually a cost of $30 and up. Apple in its eternal quest to lock its phone to AT&T would outfit new releases of their phones with updated firmware to stay ahead of the unlocking gurus. Well this is no longer a problem for the iPhone 3G, thanks to the release of the TurboSIM SIM card. The TurboSim is a small chip which goes over your SIM card prior to inserting it into your iPhone 3G SIM card tray. There is no technical knowledge required to use it once installed. Simply pop it in and you have unlocked your new 3G iPhone to work with any GSM network, including T-Mobile. Throw all the myths of cutting your SIM card out the window. This is the fastest and easiest way to free your 3G iPhone forever. Below I have listed some features of the TurboSim for your clarification. Continue to read past it as I will review both pros and cons, with my own personal experience using the TurboSim

◆ Newest 2008 Version Highest compatibility and stability.

◆ Unlock Apple Iphone 3G 4Gb/8Gb/16Gb.

◆ Its slim enough to fit together with your SIM card into iPhone SIM socket.

◆ Does not influence any communication between the phone and the network.

◆ Real time on the fly communication modifications, does not reroute SIM card traffic (Its transparent to the phone).

◆ The i-SmartSim is a thin film that fits in between your sim card and the 6-pin connector of your mobile phone.

◆ Work with 3G iPhone up to latest ver. 2.0.1 2.0.2 firmware.

◆ Unlock your iPhone 3G fast and easy.

◆ Free your iPhone 3G for any GSM Network.

◆ NO Cutting of SIM card.

Prior to purchasing I did a lot of personal research on this item, and found people who already took the risk of using a 3rd party item on their BRAND NEW $600 3G iPhone gave favorable reviews. So I decided to take the plunge. After finding a reliable seller I took sometime to contact them and get the answers to questions I had.

1. How does the TurboSim unlock my 3G iPhone?

By overlaying it over you original SIM card the TurboSIM reprograms the phones signal to release the firmward block Apple uses to lock the Iphone to AT&T.

2. What are some problems you have experienced with your customer's who have purchased this item?

We have found that about 5 out of every 100 TurboSims malfunction usually as a result of some sort of physical damage to the card. To fit over the SIM card and still close in the sim card tray, the chip is extremely thin and easily disturbed. Other then that it works great.

3. Is the item warrantied and guaranteed?

Yes, it comes with a 1 year warranty.

My first reaction after receiving it was unsatisfactory. It came with absolutely no instructions on installation or troubleshooting. But using simply common sense I was able to realize the thin black chip goes on the front of your sim card then put into the sim card tray of your iPhone and then inserted back into the phone as usual. Once installed all I did was turn on the phone and Viola! All of the sudden the phone had full bars and "T-Mobile" written next to it, indicating service compatibilty was complete. The first phone call was music to my ears, it worked flawlessly.

PROS:

1. Unlocking process is dummy proof.
2. Unlocks your Iphone 3G in a matter of seconds.
3. Works with your GSM talk, text, and data (internet) service. Requires some installation which is carrier dependent, for t-mobile you must go to SETTINGS->GENERAL->NETWORK->CELLULAR DATA NETWORK-> Under APN type in internet2.voicestream.com. Then press the NETWORK button at the top of the screen and turn DATA ROAMING on. You should see and "E" up at the top of the screen to indicate internet is working. If you have further issues TMOBILE customer service will help you set it up.

CONS

1.The phone sometimes has issues switching between the talk and data services. Several times I found I was not receiving my phone calls. I called my phone from a land line and it rang as usual but the cellphone did not register the call at all. Fastest way to fix this is to call your service provider and have them reset your network settings, restart the phone and the issue should be fixed.

2. Since the iPhone firmward is configured to work specifically with AT&T 3G network, there is not yet a solution to catch the 3G signal from other GSM carriers, therefore it is likely you will only get the EDGE wireless service provided by your carrier even if they also offer 3G. This is the case with T-Mobile.

All in all I am extemely happy with this phone and the internet works fast enough for me to be satisfied with it. To purchase the TurboSIM for your 3G iphone, simply search for it on ebay, this is a hot item so you are sure to find a good deal.
