The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers up-to-date information on postal offices closed due to storms, fires, etc.  For example, on October 19, 2009; the site had the following information:

 

Pennsylvania

Due to a snowstorm, seven Post Offices in the Cameron County area have lost their power. The affected Post Offices include Hawk Run 16840; Winburne 16879; Drifting 16834; Benezett 15821; Sinnamahoning 15861and Driftwood 15832.

West Virginia

The Bob White, WV Post Office, Pond Fork Road, STE B, Bob White, WV, 25028 was destroyed when a grocery store attached to the facility caught fire. All the mail was recovered. Service has been transferred to the Post Office in Bim, WV 25021.
