How do you know if an item is Vintage or Antique??? This debate is so old, I'm not sure if IT is Vinatge or Antique...
This is actually a topic which I have researched a great deal. And...on a couple of different occasions, I was briefly convinced I had finally found the answer...
Both terms are ambiguous at best. No reputable dictionary places a numerical value as an indicator. So, any usage of either term "could be interpreted" as mis-usage.
From my experience, the most common interpretation is this:
"Antique is an item that is at least 100 years old. And Vintage is an item that is 50-100 years old."
Now, get outta here! Don't waste as much time on this as I did. If you need something to do---you can always go buy something at Uncle Fred's Attic [of course, the link is below].

Other theories:
- Antique- Anything before 1950. Vintage - 1950-1999
- Antique - 99 + years. Vintage - 40 to 99 years old
