So you’ve joined the millions of people who seek the warmth and comfort of Ugg Boots. Why not? After all, they are made with real sheepskin, wool and leather. This can be a blessing and a curse especially when it comes to keeping them looking new and clean. Whether you clean them on your own or use a special product to achieve the desired look, this guide will help you continue to appreciate your Uggs for many years to come.
Cleaning Instructions
There are water resistance/repellent products available to keep your boots clean. Just make sure you don’t spray too much on and let the boots dry for 24 hours before wearing. If it’s raining you may need to apply the product more frequently which is fine.

Cleaning Instructions
- Use clean cold water and apply moisture lightly to the outside of boots only. Do not submerge them under water as you’re dealing with leather.
- Then apply a special cleaner such as Ugg Australian Cleaner. (Warning! Do not apply the cleaner directly to the boot as it can cause sever damage!) If you don’t want to purchase a cleaner, a gentle soap will work well with a wet sponge. Gently scrub the area avoiding aggressive rubbing.
- Once the outside is clean you should stuff the inside of the boot with newspaper to hold its shape while drying. Refrain from storing in the sun, placing in the dryer or using a hair dryer for obvious reasons.
- With the boot now dry, brush in one direction only with a suede/nubuck brush or lint-free towel to restore the texture.
- Finally, enjoy your nice, clean Uggs!

Got smelly, stiff insoles?
- Let the boot dry first.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda and corn flour.
- Sprinkle the mix inside the boot shake around the bottom.
- Let them sit overnight and shake out the extra mixture in the morning.
- There are replacement soles for your Uggs if you need them. Insert new ones if you don’t want to go through the deodorizing process explained above in “Continuing Care”.
- Your boots may shrink after you clean them but this is totally normal. They will stretch after you wear them around for a while.
- Rub your boots with a pencil eraser to remove any markings that will not go away with the washing process explained above
- Spotting from rain drops can be removed by rubbing the leather against itself.
