In my latest newsletter I wrote to you about postage rate increases for May/June 2007. I received a lot of feedback from readers with some real concerns on the impact of these proposed rates. No doubt about it, if you are selling on eBay any type of cost increases really impact how and what you can sell.
Of primary importance is the USPS Priority mail rate for 1 - 5 pound packages. Right now, for example, a 1 pound package costs $4.05. That’s up from just a year ago of $3.85. The 2007 proposed increase is a whopping 13.8%, putting a 1 pound priority mail package at $4.61 starting in May/June 2007.
I’ll be following this story in the coming months and expressing some ideas and opinions on what to do.
Here’s the official public notice from the USPS:
Public notice. This order provides notice to the public that on May 3, 2006, the United States Postal Service (Postal Service or Service) filed a formal Request with the Postal Rate
Commission (Commission) for a recommended decision on proposed changes in domestic postage rates, fees and classifications.
