USING KEYWORDS TO HELP YOUR ITEM SELL

Whether you are new to selling on Ebay, Or you have been selling for a while, It is almost vital to understand what a keyword is, And how they can help to get your item seen by more potential bidders on Ebay.

When you search for something on Ebay you are using a Search engine ( Like MSN, Yahoo, Google, Aol etc etc ), The only difference being that with Ebays search engine it will display the items ending soonest ( Unless you choose, Newly Listed items or highest priced items etc etc ), Instead of the result which most closely matches your search.

A Keyword is a word, or words which you use to describe the item you are selling, When listing an item, Think about yourself as the buyer, What words would you put into a search engine to find the item you are selling.

For example: If you were selling a computer, Make sure you describe it as best as you can, If I was going to sell my computer I would make sure I included the following all of which are keywords

Hewlett Packard ( HP ), Pavilion a410n,  Intel Celeron 2.8Ghz, Ultra DMA Hard Drive, CD-RW drive, DVD-Rom, Intel Extreme Integrated Graphics, Shared Video memory, And I can also use keywords when describing the software on the computer, Keywords such as Microsoft word, Digital Photo editing, record music CD's, Norton Antivirus and the list goes on and on.

Even if someone is only looking on Ebay for a Norton Antivirus program they would still come across my listing for a computer, At the end of the day, the more people that come across your listing means the possibility of more bids, And with more bids comes more money.

Ebays rules and regulations state that you can only use keywords which have something to do with the item you are selling, Say for example you are selling a ripe Banana, You can only use keywords to do with that banana, You cant put in your listing that this Banana has been cleared of virus's by Norton Antivirus because it hasnt. Ebay can cancel auctions or ban you from Ebay for the wrongful use of keywords.

If the item you are selling is known by many different names, Then you can put these different names in the listing, As long as these other names dont break any of Ebays other rules and regulations.

Dont rush a listing, Take your time and even ask Family & Friends if they can help with keywords that you might have missed.

The more allowed keywords you use, The better chance you have of selling your item, And possibly for a higher price then if you didnt use keywords properly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this guide, I hope it helps to to sell better on Ebay.
